Can An Executor Keep A Death Benefit?
By admin in Burlington, Vermont

Jonas lives in Burlington, Vermont. His question is:” By law can the executor to my fathers will keep some of the death benefit without being named as a beneficiary?”
Answer to Readers Question: Yes.
I’m almost certain that the Executor of a will is entitled to payment or monetary compensation or some kind of fee for taking on the task of performing the executor’s duties. But I’m not sure if there is a set amount. You should ask a probate lawyer, if this issue really bothers you.
